Northeast College of Health Sciences welcomed more than 200 participants for Alumni Weekend 2023, Oct. 6-8. The three-day event dedicated to leadership, learning and networking connected attendees from across the United States, Canada and as far away as South Korea. Dr. Brett Carnevale has over thirteen years of higher education experience teaching courses in health education, nutrition and health sciences.  He has taught locally at Monroe Community College, Syracuse University, and remotely through Bryant & Stratton College and Purdue Global University.  He maintains active professional affiliations with the American Chiropractic Association, New York State Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. Outside of teaching at Northeast, he maintains a private practice in Clyde, N.Y.

Dr. Christine Foss has a master’s degree in sports medicine from Old Dominion University, a doctorate in chiropractic from Northeast College of Health Sciences (NYCC) and a doctorate of medicine degree from the University of Health Sciences. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer, Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and Internationally Certified Sports Chiropractor. 

Foss has experience treating and rehabilitating athletes as well as non-athletes. Co-owning and establishing Advance Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy Center as well as Kid’s Therapy Center has been a passion. She worked in the Sports Medicine Department at the University of Notre Dame and volunteered at the Olympic training camps numerous times. Foss has worked under FICS for both the World Games in Poland and the bobsleigh world champions. Additionally, she traveled with TEAMUSATF as medical staff. 

Foss finds special interest in difficult cases and those patients that have had little success with conventional care, as well as lecturing on a variety of aspects of sports injuries. She currently leads the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician program at Northeast College of Health Sciences and is the education chair for Federation Internationale de Chiropractique du Sport.

Dr. Brandie Keates’ extensive clinical experience spans decades. She received the High Honor of Clinical Excellence Award from Cleveland University-Kansas City where she graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Joshua L. Kollmann (D.C. ’06)

Dr. Joshua Kollmann received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northeast College of Health Sciences (NYCC) and earned his master’s degree in performance enhancement and injury prevention from the California University of Pennsylvania. He has advanced training in treating soft tissue injuries, including full body certification in Active Release Technique (ART) and Graston Technique, and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Kollmann has the distinction as a Performance Enhancement Specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) which provides advanced skills to evaluate human movement. He is certified in both acupuncture and dry needle specializations, as well as being a Level III Medical Provider with Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST).

Kollmann has been one of the team chiropractors for the Carolina Panthers since 2011. He has also been treating as part of the PGA Sports Medicine Team since 2007. Not only does Kollmann treat athletes at various events, he is an avid triathlete and competitor. An accomplished Ironman, he competed in Ironman events in Lake Placid, Arizona, Louisville, and Cozumel, has qualified and ran the Boston Marathon twice, and is also a USA Triathlon level 1 coach.

Kollmann’ s philosophy is to utilize treatment plans founded on science, and care for patients compassionately utilizing a variety of chiropractic, soft tissue mobilization and rehabilitative techniques which will eliminate symptoms and improve overall function of the human body. He also strongly believes in patient education and empowering patients to improve the quality of their lives, because patients who know more about their conditions stay healthier.

Dr. John LaFalce has been a faculty clinician at the Northeast College Levittown Health Center of the since 2008. His position affords him the privilege of mentoring future doctors of chiropractic through their clerkships leading towards the completion of their degree. Being part of this team providing high quality chiropractic care with an evidence-based focus for students and underserved communities, he spearheads the College’s efforts at one of its spoke sites at Stony Brook University. LaFalce currently serves as the team chiropractor for the New York Riptide professional box lacrosse team of the National Lacrosse League. He enjoys working with recreational athletes with a focus on sports such as distance running, triathlon, Cross Fit and powerlifting. His post-graduate certifications include ConnecTX, Rock Tape, Kinesiotaping, ART and primary spine care, and he has taught continuing education courses in instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation and kinesiology taping. He maintains active membership in the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) and supports the modernization of scope of practice in the state. Dr. Bill Lauretti spent over 15 years in private practice in Maryland before joining the chiropractic clinical science faculty at Northeast College of Health Sciences in 2005, where he teaches courses in Chiropractic Spinal Technique, Practice Management and the Law, Chiropractic History and Philosophy, and Coding and Billing. He is a spokesman for the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), having been interviewed by major news outlets about chiropractic safety and effectiveness, including CNN, The New York Times, Consumer Reports Magazine, and WebMD.com. Lauretti is a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors and a Fellow of the American College of Chiropractors. Additionally, he serves as a regional director for the New York State Chiropractic Association.

Jonathan Lesch (D.C. ’97)

Dr. Jonathan Lesch is a graduate of LeMoyne College and Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly NYCC). He has been in private practice in Auburn, N.Y. since 1998, specializing in spinal rehabilitation. Lesch has the distinction of being certified for over 20 years in both McKenzie Therapy and Mulligan Therapy. With his unique background, Lesch has been able to streamline some of the best techniques of the chiropractic, physical therapy and athletic training professions to form a simple and effective approach for the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the spine and extremities. The techniques are shared in his book “End Neck & Back Pain & Enjoy Life Again: The Ultimate Guide for Immediate Relief” and his popular seminar Mastering the Disc: Mechanical Assessment of the Spine & Extremities. Lesch has been the featured speaker at multiple state conventions including North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Michigan, Vermont and Connecticut Chiropractic.

Dr. Veronica Mittak has worked at Northeast College of Health Sciences for 30 years after a career as a field and benchtop scientist. She received her Doctor of Health Education and Master of Public Health from A.T. Still University, School of Health Management, her Master of Science Forensic Psychology  from Walden University, and became a Certified Health Education Specialist in 2019. At our college and in regional community colleges, Mittak teaches a variety of courses including Clinical Microbiology, Public Health and Wellness, Cell and Tissue Anatomy, Laboratory Diagnosis, Abnormal Psychology and Forensic Science.

She truly enjoys sharing her experiences and expertise with others, hoping to strengthen and illuminate just how important and large a role public health plays in our personal and professional lives.

Dr. David Seaman, a doctor of chiropractic (’86) graduate of Northeast College of Health Sciences was motivated to study and write about the relationship between diet, inflammation and pain after attending a seminar at the College, then named New York Chiropractic College, about pain mechanisms, which was taught by Barry Wyke, M.D. in 1987.

Seaman’s papers on pain, diet and inflammation, weight loss, and golf have been cited by scientists at universities in America (including Harvard on 3 occasions), Canada, Brazil, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia, Asia, and Australia. Dr. Robyn Wakefield-Murphy is an assistant professor of anatomy at Northeast College of Health Sciences. Her research focus is biological anthropology, specifically focused on population health in the past. She received her Ph.D.  from the University of Pittsburgh and her Master of Science with honors in human osteology and funerary archaeology from the University of Sheffield, UK. For over 10 years, Wakefield-Murphy has given multiple research conference presentations. She has active memberships in both the American Association of Physical Anthropologists and Paleopathology Association.

Dr. Michael Zumpano is an internationally renowned comparative anatomist with several publications in craniofacial growth and comparative anatomy. One of his publications is referenced in Gray’s Anatomy demonstrating a myodural bridge between rectus capitis posterior minor and the posterior atlanto-occipital membrance. He has maintained a private chiropractic practice since 2006.  Zumpano graduated from Northeast College of Health Sciences and has taught gross anatomy for the College since 1999. He is the Director of the Anatomical Gift Program and Anatomy Center at the College and is a member of the NYS Regents State Board of Chiropractic.

Fees (must be paid in full to secure registration):

  • $35 tuition fee per educational session
    • Northeast Student Tuition - $5 per educational session
  • Registration fee for on-campus attendance
    • Friday $7, includes “refresh” break service
    • Saturday $30, includes continental breakfast, lunch, and “refresh” break services
    • Sunday $13, includes continental breakfast and “refresh” break service
  • Late registration fee (excluding Northeast Students) - $50 as of Sept. 25, 2023
  • Registrations will be closed on a rolling basis as follows:
    • Friday sessions – registration closes at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023
    • Saturday sessions – registration closes at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023
    • Sunday sessions - registration closes at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023

Events (Registration Closed)

  • $35 registration fee for the Alumni Cocktail Mixer – includes hors d'oeuvres and two drink tickets
    • $20 Northeast student registration fee for the Alumni Cocktail Mixer – includes hors d'oeuvres and two drink tickets
  • $100 registration fee for the President's Fundraising Gala – includes a four-course meal, beer and wine bar

Northeast College of Health Sciences makes every attempt to offer programs as publicized. We nevertheless reserve the right to alter and/or adjust program details, including but not limited to dates, locations, times, instructors, and presentation sources and sequences. The College is not responsible for expenses and/or consequential damages suffered by registrants of altered programs.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees are non-refundable.

Cancellations after notes have been made electronically available (including "no shows") are subject to a 50% processing fee per registered session, because access to the instructor's intellectual property will have already been granted.

All refunds must be requested within seven days of event completion.
Invalid credit cards are subject to a $10 fee.

All refunds will be processed via check payment and mailed to the registrant's address listed in their profile. Refunds will be processed intermittently, once per month; therefore, requesters should allow ample time for refund issuance.
