President's Message
It is my great pleasure to warmly welcome you to our new newsletter for alumni and friends, The Pursuit! Here we'll share an inside look at the great people, initiatives, and events that drive the College forward every day. As we proudly celebrate our centennial year in 2019, it's fitting that we take this opportunity to look to the future, and I'm most pleased to share with you not just a look back at the College's past 100 years but also the College's new strategic plan, the 2018-2021 BLUEprint: Growing the Future Together. I hope that as you read this inaugural issue of The Pursuit and about all of the wonderful things happening at NYCC -- past, present, and future -- you'll join me on this exciting path, ever forward in our commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and professional best practices.

True Blue: The People of NYCC
True Blue - Susan Fries, D.C. '05
For alumna and NYCC Board of Trustees member Susan Fries (D.C. '05) animals have been an important part of her practice from the beginning, when she brought her three service-certified dogs to her practice and noticed their calming effect on anxious patients. When her dogs’ veterinarian began to call her with animal-related chiropractic questions, Dr. Fries was inspired to train in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM). Today she cares for both animals and humans, sharing space with her own veterinarian to treat dogs, cats, and rabbits, as well as maintaining a thriving chiropractic practice for human patients in Vero Beach, Florida. Dr. Fries respects and appreciates all her patients, two-legged and four-legged alike.
True Blue - Tiffany Gunawardena, D.C. '19
Tiffany Gunawardena (D.C. '19) began her education and career in research. She earned a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in biotechnology from Temple University, was a research technician in the orthopedic department of Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, and started her career as an associate scientist at Janssen Pharmaceutica. However, when she found relief from chronic headaches via chiropractic care, coupled with her desire to cultivate doctor-patient relationships, she was drawn to pursue a career in chiropractic. Her own chiropractor, an alumnus of NYCC, highly recommended NYCC’s program and was influential in her decision to enroll at the College. Since coming to NYCC, Tiffany has become active in clubs and work study assignments. She anticipates graduating in July 2019 and plans to open her own practice focusing on sports medicine in an urban environment.
True Blue - David Campo, IT Support Specialist
David Campo, IT Support Specialist and 2018 winner of a Staff Recognition award, has been with NYCC since 2015. Dave came to us from WXXI public broadcasting, where he first started working with technology after having earned degrees in communications from Monroe Community College and SUNY Brockport. Dave plays guitar, bass, and drums, and did some live sound work and “a little bit of everything technical” at WXXI. Dave, a resident of Seneca Falls, loves many things about working at NYCC: his boss, the sense of teamwork, his ability to work with different employees in various areas of the college, and the potential for personal and professional growth. For their part, the NYCC community appreciates Dave’s professionalism, helpful and positive attitude, and his willingness to research, implement, and streamline projects that were entirely new to him.
True Blue - Louis Bisogni, D.C. '76
Louis Bisogni (D.C. '76) first became interested in chiropractic care in his native Bronx, New York, when he held a summer job in a chiropractic office. After graduating from Lehman College, Bisogni went on to attend the Columbia Institute of Chiropractic because of its accreditation, outstanding reputation, and location. His journey into sports chiropractic began about ten years later, when his son's football-related injury motivated him to enroll in the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) program. For the past 20 years, Dr. Bisogni has been treating members of a professional baseball team in New York City. He currently has two locations in Westchester County and though his practice is sports oriented, he welcomes all patients.
