Students walking toward campus

New York Chiropractic College kicked off its Spring 2021 Trimester on May 5, welcoming both new and returning students of the College's chiropractic and nutrition programs, as well as students continuing their studies in human anatomy and physiology instruction.

Incoming students were welcomed during NYCC's Doctor of Chiropractic New Student Orientation event. The program included a greeting from College President Dr. Michael Mestan, an introduction to student services from Executive Director of the Office of Student Engagement Ms. Carol Faivre, and a tutorial on how to navigate the NYCC Student Portal by Kathryn Kennedy (D.C. '22).

Enrollment Up, More Courses on Campus

After a year of pandemic-related adjustments, the College began its traditional 15-week Spring 2021 trimester as scheduled, with both in-person and online coursework. Most lab courses have returned to on-campus instruction, with many of the College's lab classrooms featuring acrylic barriers at each workstation, following recommendations of the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Spring 2021 doctor of chiropractic program enrollment was strong and exceeded expectations, seating the largest incoming spring cohort since 2018 -- an increase of more than 80%.

Health and Safety at Forefront

"The College has made great progress over the past year in maintaining the health and well-being of our community. We are happy to see even more students back on campus and to be experiencing so many positive steps toward life in post-pandemic times," said Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Anne Killen.

In alignment with both New York State and CDC guidelines, the College community continues to wear masks while in class and on campus. Enhanced safety and cleaning procedures also remain in all classroom settings.

"We continue to adhere to the guidelines that have proved successful, and we are committed to staying vigilant to keep our community's health and safety at the forefront," said Dr. Mestan. "As we move forward, we continue to provide the academic and innovative excellence for which we are known while ensuring the Spring 2021 trimester will be a healthy, prosperous and productive one."
