Dr. Thomas DeVita hands a gravel to Dr. Frank Lizzio

The New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) Board of Trustees welcomed a new chairperson this month, while also celebrating the accomplishments of its outgoing leader.

At the June 2019 meeting of the NYCC Board of Trustees, Frank Lizzio, D.C. '80, assumed the role of Board chairperson, succeeding Thomas DeVita, D.C. '75, who held the position since 2016.

"Dr. DeVita has been a dedicated leader to the College and we're thankful for his service to the Board," said NYCC President Michael Mestan.

Dr. Mestan also had words of gratitude for the incoming Board chairperson. "I'm pleased with the Board's decision to name Dr. Lizzio as its new leader and confident that his expertise and dedication will continue to uphold the mission of the College," Mestan said.

Lizzio, a member of NYCC's Board of Trustees since 2007, currently works in private practice and at the Veterans Administration in the Bronx, New York. He served as vice president and president of the NYCC Alumni Association from 1997 to 2006, and also served a term on the Board of Directors of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners from 2005 to 2007.

Lizzio was initially appointed to the faculty of NYCC in 1985, where he instructed in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics, differential diagnosis and neuromuscular disease. In addition, he was an adjunct assistant professor and served as a faculty clinician at the College's outpatient health center in Levittown
