New York Chiropractic College announces that Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (FLSAOM) Dean Garrison has been asked to form an advisory group to explore new and innovative acupuncture program formats for the College. The advisory group, comprised of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) stakeholders, will investigate and recommend a new AOM program(s) that is mission-centered and self-sustainable as part of our Institutional Strategic Planning process.

As the AOM advisory group begins this crucial work, we continue to maintain NYCC's strong overall health. At this time we have made a decision to close our current M.S. programs in Acupuncture and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and will establish a "teach-out" model in accordance with the standards established by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. This teach-out plan will position our AOM students with the opportunity to complete their degree requirements by the end of Spring 2020. Additionally, our intent is that acupuncture services available through our health centers will continue uninterrupted.

NYCC is committed to acupuncture and Oriental medicine as a primary component of natural health care. While we are concluding our current AOM programs, we continue to appreciate the discipline's historic role at NYCC and to strive toward our vision of being the leading institution for the education and training of natural healthcare professionals.
