NYS Travel Advisory & Quarantine (June 25, 2020)
Dear NYCC Students, Faculty and Staff:
Yesterday New York State (NYS) announced a travel advisory requiring anyone traveling from states with significant COVID-19 infections to voluntarily quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state. The advisory, created in partnership with neighboring states Connecticut and New Jersey, went into effect as of midnight Thursday, June 25, 2020.
*Identified states, as of Wednesday, June 24, are:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
* Note that NYS anticipates frequent updates of the list of states to which the advisory applies, based on states' evolving COVID-19 metrics. Please be sure to check the NYS website regularly for the latest list.
If you have been or will be in one of the currently-identified states within 14 days of your planned return to New York State and/or NYCC facilities, please know you are required to self-quarantine and it's possible you may not be allowed to enter the College grounds. In particular, we know some community members (e.g. T6, T7, and some T8) are scheduled to return to campus very shortly, and may be directly impacted by this unexpected advisory. Please contact Dean Bobak (for students, 315-568-3864, email@example.com) or Human Resources (for employees, 315-568-3109, firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as you're able to discuss alternatives.
Given the changing nature of this travel advisory, we strongly recommend that students, faculty and staff return to the Finger Lakes region as soon as schedules allow, and at least 14 days before planning to be on campus. If you need assistance with on-campus housing as you plan your return, please contact Director of Student Engagement and Residence Life Ms. Carol Faivre (315-568-3047, email@example.com).
We will continue to update you on this new travel advisory as we learn more.
