Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Classroom Program?
A traditional seminar in a classroom setting (tables or individual desks) which may be any where from 3 to 15 credit hours.  The instructor may or may not be in the classroom with the students depending on whether or not the seminar is at a remote site as part of an IVTC seminar.  There may be up to three locations involved and there may also be a teleseminar component.  A set of lecture notes is provided the day of the seminar to all those attendees in the classroom.  Classroom programs are offered as follows:
 3 hr programs - Thursday afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm
 6 hr programs - Saturdays from 1 pm to 7 pm OR Sundays from 8am to 2pm.  12 hr programs - Saturdays from 1 pm to 7 pm and Sundays from 8 am to 2 pm  Please confirm the schedule as there are times when the seminar hours are different or a different amount of hours are offered, eg. 8 or 13 hrs.  Doctors should be registered and paid by 3:00 pm one week prior to the seminar, additional fees are incurred if less than one week.

What is a Teleseminar?
Teleseminars are offered on Thursday afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm and are during a  3 credit hour live classroom presentation.  By placing a call to a toll free number (800-234-6922 and asking switchboard for x7098) from either home or office, putting their phone on speaker mode, with MUTE button activated, an attendee can listen to a real time instructor along with those sitting in the classroom.  You will receive a set of lecture notes prior to the seminar. Doctors should be registered and paid by 3:00 pm  two weeks prior to the seminar date, additional fees are incurred for postage and if registered less than two weeks prior to the seminar.  Teleseminar access is limited, so register early.
 
What is a Clinical Coaching Tele-Conference Workshop?
A Clinical Coaching Tele-Conference Workshop is an opportunity to bring the best and the brightest chiropractic clinical instructors and researchers into your home or office 2 hours per week for 6 weeks via telephone (12 CE credits).  A set of lecture notes are mailed prior to the seminar.  Each teleconference workshop registers a maximum of 11 Doctors of Chiropractic to ensure a comprehensive practice enhancing experience.   Courses are offered Mondays OR Wednesdays from 1 pm to 3pm, additional classes and times will be added in the near future.  Doctors should be registered and paid by 3:00 pm two weeks prior to the first presentation, additional fees are incurred for postage and if registered less than two weeks prior to the seminar.

What is an Online Course?
From the NYCC website, click onto the Continuing Ed Online Learning selection and enjoy an internet based online learning experience.  There are 65 courses to choose from with over 140 CE credits available (ranging from 1 credit to 4 credits).  You register, select the program, and take the exam all online.  Once exam is completed and you have passed you will be able to access and print your certificate of completion.

What is a Home Study Correspondence Course?
After registering with the PG department, the material is sent to your home or office.  In order to compy with individual states’requirements, a Question and Answer is mailed under separate cover soon after initial course materials are mailed.  Once you have returned and successfully completed the Q & A, a transcript will be mailed.

What does IVTC mean?
IVTC stands for Interactive Video Tele Conference.  Seminars can be presented in multiple sites using state of the art equipment which broadcasts both voice and video to a classroom at a remote location.  Host site is the physical location of the instructor.  Typically, the Chiropractic Health Center in Depew, NY, the Chiropractic Health Center in Levittown, NY and the Main Campus in Seneca Falls, NY are the three locations where IVTC courses are transmitted.

What is Distance Learning?
Distance Learning is internet based on line courses or home study.

What is a Webinar?
A webinar is a real time, interactive, internet based program.

What is a National Provider Identification Number (NPIN)?
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandated that the Secretary of Health and Human Services adopt a standard unique health identifier for health care providers. On Jan 23, 2004, the Secretary published a final rule that adopted the NPI as this identifier.  Your CE records are access via your NPI number.

Will NYCC courses apply to my states CE requirements? 
The Postgraduate Department routinely requests state board approval for a seminar in the state in which it occurs.  Additional state approval requests may be submitted for some seminars.  Please contact your individual state board or the NYCC Postgraduate Dept 1-800-434-3955 ext 113, or 516-796-5923 ext 113 for state submittal and approval information. A state application fee may apply and application deadlines may affect our ability to apply.

Check with your own board if you are unsure if the course content falls within your board’s scope of practice requirements.

How do I pay for a seminar?
We accept check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard & Discover).  Checks should be made payable to NYCC.

Where is Depew, NY?
10 miles east of Buffalo.  Seminars are held at the Chiropractic Health Center of the New York Chiropractic College.

Where is Seneca Falls, NY?
Central Western New York State.  Seminars are held at the Main Campus of New York Chiropractic College.

Where is Levittown, NY?
35 miles east of New York City.  Seminars are held at the Chiropractic Health Center, Ernest G. Napolitano Postgraduate Center of New York Chiropractic College.
