Women's Health Symposium
Register for the Upcoming Women's Health Symposium:
The Women’s Health Symposium Committee is proud to announce that the planning for the Spring 09 event is underway. It is titled “Wellness at Home”: This year the event will be presented as a dual track program for the public subtitled; “what every family member should know” and for the professional subtitled; “helping your patients help themselves”. The goal of the symposium is to empower women to take a more active role in the care of themselves and their loved ones by teaching them simple techniques to remedy and / or prevent specific common maladies at home.
Further, the symposium aims to educate professionals on how to interact with patients is a way that is empowering while educating them about self care and preventive measures. We believe the time is now for a new paradigm in practitioner / patient relations and that teamwork is the key. Our speakers and panel members are experts in the fields of medicine, nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and herbal medicine. They understand and promote the importance of patient education and accountability. The limits of good health go as far as the patient chooses. The WHS believes that together, practitioners and patients can chart a new course in healthcare.

Purpose Statement
The Women's Health Symposium (WHS) provides education in healthcare and treatment options, delivered by leading experts, in effective and enjoyable ways in order to deepen and broaden the knowledge base of women in our local community and beyond.
Vision
The WHS programs provide information on alternative health choices generally not found in a doctor’s office, hospital, or insurance brochures. Our aim is to focus the attendees' thinking on health maintenance and disease prevention. We also aspire to encourage women to take the leading role and primary responsibility for their own, as well as their families’, personal health. The WHS provides women with the tools and encouragement to assist their loved ones in making informed choices, be it in their role as mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother or friend.
Values
Since 1919, the mission of the New York Chiropractic has been to provide quality education and healthcare, both to students and to the community at large. The WHS is an extension of this commitment, providing valuable, quality education to our community, serving as a resource and support network, and advancing alternative and integrative healthcare in our society.
The importance of health education cannot be understated … knowledge is empowering. The WHS provides education in healthcare on a variety of topics that are most sought by women. Each year we create an event that is both educational and fun in the hope that women will achieve a new understanding and perspective of what it means to create and maintain good health. It is the goal of the New York Chiropractic College and Women’s Health Symposium Committee to help women gain a valuable experience that will serve them and their loved ones in the days and years ahead. Our mission is to:
- Provide women with dependable information on alternative health choices generally not found in a doctor's office, hospital, or insurance brochures.
- Assist women in focusing their thinking on health maintenance, disease prevention and building strong bodies.
- Encourage women to take the leading role and primary responsibility for their own and their families' personal health.
- Support women in their role as caretaker. Whether that is as mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend, or all of these roles, the WHS provides them with the tools and encouragement to help their loved ones make informed choices and make a difference.
